Our Top 3 Surf Booties Reviewed in 2018
#1 – O’Neill Heat Surf Booties
I have listed these first because I think that they are the best value surf booties for the money. The price is good and they have nice features – what more can you ask for?
When you are out in the water in these, you will notice that you feet stay warm thanks to the durable and high quality material.
You don’t have to worry about slipping or losing your balance because the rubber sole gives you good traction.
The double velcro straps are probably the best feature because they let you get the best possible fit from your boots. And that means you do not have to worry about a lot of water getting in the booties.
If you’re just shopping for some good reef booties and don’t need something for cold water, then you will appreciate that you can buy these wetsuit booties in different thickness levels. You can choose from:
- 3mm thickness
- 5mm thickness
- 7mm thickness
Resist the urge to skimp on this purchase and buy something else just because it is cheaper. You will find that it is hard to find a better value than this particular pair of booties if you are on a budget. They are made by a brand known for making quality water sports gear, so you can count on these to last you for many years down the line.
#2 – Hyperflex Wetsuits Men’s Amp Round Toe Boot
The first thing that you will notice about these Hyperflex surf boots is that they have a slightly higher price than the O’Neill’s. Do not let that deter you from considering them, especially if you are a serious surfer.
Probably the best feature of these is the hyperflex lockseal with the anti-flush closure. It gives you a water tight seal every single time you put them on. That is great for surfers who worry about getting water in their boots. Keeps your feet warmer, which means that you can stay out their longer.
You also get good traction from these booties as they have a hydro rib sole so that you don’t slip off your board.
Though these booties first hit the market back in 2010, they are still a great choice for surfers today because they are designed well and are very durable.
Like the O’Neill’s, you have different thickness options with these booties. You can choose from:
- 3mm thickness
- 5mm thickness
- 7mm thickness
The only negative with these is that they can be a bit difficult to get on and off due to their water-seal design. I find that a thin neoprene sock on under the boots makes them easier to slide on and off. I think you will find them to be very comfortable and the best Hyperflex boot series available for surfers.
#3 – Rip Curl E-Bomb Split Toe Cold Water Surfing Bootie
If you need a good cold water bootie that is thinner than the Hyperflex and the O’Neill models above, then you will love this Rip Curl model.
It is probably the best lightweight surfing booties that I’ve seen. When you wear these, you will notice that they are super flexible and it almost feels like you are not even wearing them and are barefoot instead.
You get a nice, snug fit with these, but they are super easy to get on and off your feet. And they are quality gear with a durability that will last you for many years to come.
You get to choose from two different thickness options for your boots:
- 3mm thickness
- 1.5mm thickness
Surfers in warmer regions, such as California, will really love these because they are thick enough to keep your feet from getting too cold but thin enough to prevent your feet from overheating.
Other features with these boots that might interest you include:
- 100% (E2) Elastomax 2 Neoprene. Aqua Ban Liquid Taping.
- Ankle Flex Section and Tatex Flex Sections.
- Pull On tab for easy on and off.
- Super Soft Outsole.
