Top Cheap Women’s Road Bikes Under 500 Dollars – $1000

To help you with you shopping, read my reviews below on the best models for 2015 and 2016. Right now, these are the best women’s road bikes for the money in this price range. Keep in mind that you can definitely get better quality bikes, but only at a higher price. So, if your budget is $500 – $1,000, then these are the most affordable options for you.

1. Vilano Women’s Classic Urban Commuter Single Speed Bike Fixie Style City Mint Pearl Road Bicycle

Probably one of the most affordable women’s road bikes has got to be this model from Vilano. If this is your first time shopping for bicycles, then know that Vilano has a great reputation when it comes to making quality bikes for both men and women at low prices. And this particular model is no exception – you get a nice looking, high quality bike that is designed for women – and it has a great cheap price. It’s hard to find a better value cheap women’s road bike for the money.

Unlike a lot of female bikes, this one is not pink! Instead, it is more of a minty-green color.

Other things that you will like about this bike include:

  • 700c Single Speed bike
  • smooth, comfortable ride
  • mustache-style handle bars
  • nice, attractive classic design
  • coaster brake
  • kickstand and platform pedals

This is a very lightweight cycle that is great for urban commuting and riding around town.

Bottom line: this is an awesome women’s road bike at an even better price. Very budget-friendly and designed to last you for quite some time.

2. Giordano Libero 1.6 White/Pink Womens Road Bike-700c

The design of this one is a bit different than the Vilano model above, but it is more in line with what you see most people riding these days. Of course, you should never buy yourself a bicycle based purely on design. This is a high quality bike made by a well-known Italian brand.

This is a very lightweight bike frame that fits women of all sizes. In fact, this is a great road bike for short women as the 15-inch frame can accommodate a woman as short as 4-foot 7-inches in height.

Some other notable features include:

  • dual mounts for water bottles
  • 16-speed Shimano STI drive train
  • available in a small or medium size frame

As you might have noticed from the photo, this bike is VERY girly. It has a pink and white color scheme with some flowery handlebar tape. So, this might not appeal to everyone out there.

It is also worth pointing out that the seat on this one is not very comfortable. Sure, most bike seats are a pain for your backside, but this one is exceptionally painful. Consider padded bike shorts or a whole new seat if you buy this Giordano women’s bike.

3. Tommaso Womens Imola Lightweight Aluminum Sport Road Bike

Like the Giordano, this bike is Italian made and it shows. You gets lots of high quality components, like the upgraded Shimano gears. That being said, there are other components that could be a little better for the money, like the pedal. Overall though, you get a great bike for the money.

Plus, this thing looks sweet, am I right? Don’t be surprised if it turns heads. Honestly, I haven’t ever even seen anyone else riding one of these in my area.

The frame is lightweight, shifting is smooth, the ride is comfortable and it goes pretty fast. Nothing to complain about really. The Tektro R312 brakes are really responsive, which is nice. And, the frame comes with a lifetime warranty.

Bottom line: the price is a little higher on this one, but it is still affordable and meets the under 500 – 1000 bucks requirement. You get a heck of a lot of bike for the money, so definitely consider checking this one out.

4. Schwinn Women’s Phocus 1600 700C Drop Bar Road Bicycle

Honestly, I was a bit hesitant to include this one because Schwinn certainly is not what it used to be. I mean, when I was a kid, if you were lucky enough to have a Schwinn then you were the man, y’know? But over the past few years or so, quality has really declined for the most part.

That being said, this is a pretty okay choice if you want a good women’s road bike for beginners with a cheap low price. Just know in advance that you are not getting a top of the line model, okay?

Shifting is smooth. It has a Shimano 14 speed drivetrain, which is nice. The frame is lightweight and the brakes are responsive. Not much more you can ask for, really.

Bottom line: this bike handles well and is a decent value for the money. If you want something a little better for the same price, then consider the Vilano or Giordano listed above.

5. Diamondback Bicycles Women’s 2016 Calico Complete Dual Sport Bike

Out of all the models listed here, this is my top pick right now. It is the new 2016 version of this model and it is probably the best women’s road bike for the money right now in the under $500 – $700 category.

First of all, Diamondback has a great reputation for making some of the highest quality bikes on the market. And this one is no exception. It has high quality components and rides like a dream.

Like the Tommaso model above, this is one of the higher priced options on the market for beginners, but definitely worth it! In fact, I would choose this one over the Tommaso every time.

And sure, technically it is not just a road bike since it is a dual sport model, but once you get on it then you will be sold on it.

The brakes are very responsive and powerful. It handles well on all types of terrain and is very comfortable to ride. And, it comes in four different frame sizes to accommodate women ranging in height from 5-foot 1-inch to 6-foot 1-inch. Out of all these models on this page, this Diamondback Calico Sport is the best cheap road bike for tall women on the market right now.
